Fortaleza's newly renovated Castelao Stadium is scheduled to host six World Cup matches including a pre-quarters encounter and a quarter-finals. It hosted three matches in 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup after the 2012 revamp

The City

Fortaleza is the Capital of the Land of Light, Ceara, the northeastern state of Brazil, with an estimated population of 2.5 million. Unfortunately at the center of police-protester clashes when Brazil  played Mexico last year, Fortaleza serves enough recreation through a string of beaches, malls, restaurants and other attractions

Estadio Castelao

It's at this stadium the crowd refused to stop singing the National Anthem when the band finished FIFA's shortened version  at the 2013 Confederations cup.

Castelao hosts local clubs Ceara and Fortaleza along with Presidente Vargas stadium. After the upgrades, its capacity has been increased to fit 58,000 fans
