Belo Horizante's Estadio Mineirao is the second largest stadium in Brazil and is set to host six World Cup games including a pre-quarters and a semi-final. The stadium has been renovated in December 2012 and hosted three 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup games. The stadium is also set to host a few matches in 2016 Summer Olympics

The City

Located in the southeastern part of the country, Belo Horizonte ("beautiful horizon" in Portuguese), the capital city of the state of Minas Gerais, is the sixth largest city in Brazil with a population of around 5 million metropolitans. The city, locally known as BH, is the "food and drink" capital of Brazil with an abundance of neighborhood bars and belly busting cuisine, notorious for its heavy nature.

Estadio Miniero

This state owned stadium, officially known as Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto was built in the 60's to replace the low-capacity Estadio Independencia. Mineirao is home to Atletico Mineiro and Cruzeiro, regulars of Brazil Serie A. Once boasted of witnessing 130,000 spectators, its capacity has been now been reduced to a comfortable 60,000.
The renovation process has been undertaken in a sustainable manner. The pitch has been lowered for better visibility.
